Mushrooms seem to have a permanent place in the world of childhood — tucked into fairy tales as tiny homes, popping up in picture books, woodland play, and toys, always looking just whimsical enough to suggest something magical might be nearby.

I first gathered some of my favorite mushroom finds for this gift guide in 2021, and it seemed time for a refresh. A few longtime favorites remain, along with some lovely new additions.
